Simple exercises you can do anywhere
The winter is often viewed as a time to stay home, curl up on the couch, and watch movies. But this means many people don’t get enough exercise during the cold months. Fortunately, there are easy exercises you can do right now, from the comfort of your own home!
Stair Walking
If you have stairs in you home, you can get a top-quality workout without leaving the house. Set a timer for 5, 10, or even 15 minutes and walk up and down the stairs. Stair walking gets your heart pumping, burns calories, and helps shape your legs and rear, making it a versatile and easily-accessible routine.
Pushups
Want a workout for your arms and core? A pushup routine works a variety of different muscles, including your shoulders, triceps, chest, and abs. If you need a lighter option, start a pushup routine with your knees on the ground instead of your toes. You can also go wider for more chest and shoulders, or bring your hands closer to work the back of your arms. If you can’t do pushups, work on sitting on the floor and getting back up. It’s a skill that we start to lose as we age.
High Knees
If you run during the summer but take the winter off, you can keep your legs in shape with high knees or jumping jacks, which are easy to do while watching your favorite show.
Find Workout Apps
Finally, if you need more variety, try online workout apps. While you need to go at your own pace, there are many apps that provide variety, excitement, and interest to your winter workouts, and you’ll also learn exercises that you can do all year long!
